  • Developed in the 1980s, EFT encourages you to delve into your emotional experiences, recognizing the valuable information emotions provide about your needs, desires, and relational patterns. By transforming maladaptive emotional responses into more adaptive ones, EFT aims to enhance emotional awareness and foster healthier coping mechanisms. By encouraging you to identify and process your emotions, EFT helps transform negative emotional patterns into positive ones, enhancing your emotional resilience and coping strategies.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a goal-oriented, client-centered therapy approach designed to draw out and strengthen an individual's motivation for positive behavior change. MI is particularly effective in addressing issues such as addiction, health behavior change, and hesitation towards change.

The therapist utilizes compassionate listening, reflective questioning, and affirmation to help clients explore and resolve their hesitation about changing problematic behaviors. Rather than imposing solutions, MI encourages clients to voice their own reasons for change in a non-judgmental and non-confrontational environment.

The ultimate goal is to enhance motivation, self-efficacy, and commitment to change, empowering clients to take meaningful steps toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.

  • My specialized training in reproductive health will provide you with a place where you can pause and draw breath. It is a space to “gather” and to bring about the sense that your head rises above the water and you can get a clearer understanding of what you have felt, and are feeling, about what is happening.  It is often only when we have the space to speak, be heard and to reflect on what has been said, that we can gain clarity and peace.

When a couple are trying to conceive the emphasis is, understandably, on the physical side of things – specialists, doctors, appointments, etc. However, alongside the physical nature of this issue, there are all sorts of emotions attached to what you are going through.

Alternatively, there can be all sorts of reasons you can feel trauma following the birth of the baby. You and or your partner can experience a shocking loss of a sense of safety, security and confidence in yourself, another and the world around you.

There is so much going on emotionally that it can be hard to take it all on board – shock, grief, anger, to name just a few. Alongside this, there is potentially stress arising within your relationship as you try to navigate what is happening both for yourself, and as a couple.

Alternatively, there are many expectations placed on a woman to feel a certain way during pregnancy and after birth to feel a certain way about becoming a mother. If we find we’re not feeling these ‘expected’ feelings, it can lead to guilt and shame about having negative thoughts and feelings or a sense there is something ‘wrong’ with you or you are ‘bad’ or not normal in some way.
